King Kong Coaster Model

Yup guys, this is what the new King Kong coaster at Universal Dubai will look like. It kind of sucks that they didnt go the route where as they used a soundstage and just re invented Kongfrontation (my dream LOL). But still, at least at the end of 2010 we wont be living in a Kongless ride world after all would be? It's kind of cool how they put Kong on the side of the coaster too, but if it where a remake of Kongfrontation, i'd take a plane to Dubai anyday.
(I just noticed Revenge of the Mummy is right behind the coaster, GODAMN THOSE SONS OF BITCHES :P)

Kongfrontation VS Revenge of the Mummy (My Thoughts)

Hello there, this post is going to debate which is a better ride Kongfrontation or Revenge of the Mummy. I'll use KF for Kongfrontation and RM for Revenge of the Mummy.

So here are my thoughts ladies and gentlemen.

The Mummy series is a popular series by Universal right? It made alot of bucks and has a small fan base and had a VERY crappy line of sequals (thats my opinion) and it still, STILL managed to slip by and replace the best attraction at Universal Studios Orlando...Kongfrontation. What the hell was Universal smoking? The Mummy series is NO WHERE as popular as the King Kong franchise and nor is as good as the King Kong franchise. So it gets me to this day how Universal could replace such a awesome and unique ride like W T F?

Anyways back on to the actual rides. Lets compare the lengths of the rides.

KF-4 and a half minutes.

RM-3 minutes

Hmm, who wins that?? Kongfrontation ;), I say this because Kongfrontation had more to ocupy your self with because of the awesome sets and props that surround the actual ride, from the realistic 80's esque streets, to the little foodstands on the corners of the fake streets, it all adds up, where as RM everything is dark and everything that is special or unique goes by waaay to quick (I have to admit, RM has some pretty cool moments). So in my book Kong wins this one.

The Tension, i'd have to say that KF and RM are both equal when it comes to suspense and tension because both have to capture something thats life threating. KF has to replicate a scene where your on never stoping tram through the streets of Roosevelt Island with a 50 foot King Kong attacks the tram and bashes it around, where as RM has to replicate a scene where you escape the wrath of a ancient and furious mummy, so i'd say this is pretty equal to me. But if I had to pick one i'd have to be KF because nothing was more scarier then going towards a 50 foot animatronic thats gonna turn your head inside out.

Now, the line up.

This is a no brainer, the setup and line up for RM was orginal and cool because insted of KF where before you get into the actual line up you had to wait in a little tent/shed like structure outside in the heat, you waited in a air conditioned Mummy themed line up where TV's where playing and such. Also waiting in line in a movie set was pretty neat, and lets not forget about the creepyness of walking and wating in a mummy like tomb was pretty intense and creepy. But...no where does it match the line up that you waited in line for KF, it was amazing, the line up was actually one of the best parts of KF because it was soo damn real. It actually felt you just laid steps onto a NYC esque subway station, because everything made it real, because all of us had been in a subway station before but majority of us have never been in a mummys tomb before so it was something we could relate to. Also the smell of the line up was even like a real subway, and lets not forget about the grafitti on the walls, those kept me ocupied the whole time. Also there where TV's notifying the escape of Kong so it made you felt like you where boarding a midnight meat train LOL, so its a no brainer, KF wins this one.

The Memories, ahh the memories, lets keep this one short shall we. Who's gonna remember every little event in RM? Mostly nobody, everybody is probally going to remember the blackness and the fire and the suidden drops and etc. But I promise you, if you go to anyone who has been on KF, first thing they will probally say is Bannah Breath. No ride in the universe of theme parks has captured anything as awesome as Bannah Breath, it's something that sticks to the back of your head for the rest of your life.

So this was my debate on why KF is a better ride then RM. Come on guys, lets be serious, this debate is a no brainer.....

Old Universal Studios Orlando Map

Pretty neat eh, I was digging through Google Images and found this. Yup thats Kong on the top of the map, I dont know, something about this pic tears me up (not literly) but you know what I mean. I dont believe why Universal would take the leap to replace such a classic ride with such a medicore coaster (no offense). Like Revenge of the Mummy is a decent ride/coaster and all but it dosent even light a candle to Kongfrontation. Anyways, I thought this would be a good first "Official Post".

Kongfrontation blog has started!!

Hello all, this site/blog is dedicated to the late Kongfrontation which closed down in 2002. For many of you Kongfrontation is a distant memory waiting to be relived, and for the very few of us, we still have a special spot for Kong and his bannana breath in our hearts. So since we are getting close to the 7th year aniversary of the closing of Kongfronation I have started this blog to keep the bannah breath rolling through some of our minds still and to those who have never experienced the awesomeness of Kongfrontation.

Anyways if you havent noticed yet, there can't be new information of Kongfrontation, but we can dig into some secrets and memories that havent been told yet. Also the construction of the new King Kong attraction at Universal Dubai is going to begin soon so this site will have little blogs and updates on that aswell.

Also I am constructing a mini replica of the Kongfronation ride so i'll keep some updates on that aswell, but anyways, cheers to a new site, and cheers to Bannana Breath!!
